Research supports chiropractic care for various conditions.
Allergies
Chiropractic helps alleviate allergies by improving your body's ability to combat them, working beyond the short-term relief of anti-histamines. Misalignments in the spine can stress the nervous system, affecting immune function. Chiropractors align the spine to reduce nerve stress, enabling the immune system to function optimally. This promotes better recognition of allergens, preventing overreactions and reducing the severity of allergic symptoms.
DISC PROBLEMS
Intervertebral discs between spinal vertebrae facilitate spine movement, provide space, and act as shock absorbers. Trauma or aging can lead to disc issues like herniation or bulging, causing pain and nerve pressure. Instead of surgery, chiropractic care offers a non-invasive alternative. Chiropractors align the spine, reducing nerve pressure and alleviating disc-related discomfort, often providing relief without the risks and recovery associated with surgery.
Whiplash
Whiplash, common in car collisions, results from the violent snapping of the neck, causing soft tissue damage and potential structural issues. Chiropractic care offers targeted adjustments and alignments to release pressure on discs and nerves, aiding recovery from whiplash injuries. Chiropractic massage can relieve pain from soft tissue damage without resorting to pain medications or surgery.
For arthritis caused by cartilage wear between joints, chiropractic care provides a holistic approach. Painkillers offer temporary relief, but chiropractic adjustments release pressure on the nervous system, restore joint movement, and ensure proper motion to prevent compensatory injuries. Focused on overall well-being, chiropractic care aims to restore and maintain adequate training and functionality for increased long-term health.
Joint Dysfunction
Joint dysfunction, stemming from injury, poor posture, or overuse, restricts whole movement and can lead to pain in the affected joint and surrounding muscles. Sacroiliac joint dysfunction, a common form, causes low back pain and limited mobility, often misdiagnosed as sciatica or a herniated disc. Chiropractors can accurately diagnose and relieve this condition through targeted adjustments, restoring proper mobility and alleviating pain. If you're experiencing joint pain, seek relief through our chiropractic care.
Neck/Back Pain
Subluxations or misalignments of your vertebrae usually cause pain along the spinal column in your neck or back. A slight misalignment can cause pain by causing pressure on nerves. Left untreated, these subluxations can cause muscle spasms and increasing pain. Chiropractic adjustments properly align your spine to release pressure on joints and nerves. It is a direct treatment for the cause of the pain, not a temporary relief like pain relievers or massage. If you are experiencing back or neck pain, visit us today.
Headaches
Many people believe that headaches are caused by loud noise, tiredness, or stress. While these factors can lead to headaches, the direct cause is tightness in the neck and shoulders. The tightness can cause misalignments in the vertebrae of your neck, resulting in pain. 80% of all headaches originate from the channel. With a typical cervicogenic (neck origin) headache, a person usually feels pain starting at the base of the skull, which radiates into the temples, eyeballs, and forehead. Massage of the neck and shoulder muscles can release tension, and a chiropractic adjustment can realign the vertebrae in your neck. Chiropractic can help eliminate the cause of your headaches rather than offering temporary relief from the symptoms.
Sciatica
Sciatica occurs when the sciatic nerve is irritated due to bulging discs, spinal subluxations, or muscle spasms, resulting in pain, numbness, and weakness in the lower back and leg. Effective treatment requires diagnosing and addressing the underlying cause, a task your chiropractor is well-equipped to handle. Similarly, a "pinched nerve" results from compression, often caused by spinal misalignments or herniated discs. The resulting inflammation, pain, and muscle spasms can be relieved through chiropractic adjustments, which align the spine and address the root cause of the pain. An examination by a chiropractor can effectively identify and treat the source of your pain.
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
This condition is most commonly associated with people constantly using a computer. Typing is a motion that, when performed repetitively and with poor posture, can cause carpal tunnel syndrome. Symptoms include pain, numbness, weakness, or a burning sensation. The nerves in the fingertips travel through the wrist, up the arm, and into the neck. The spine is the center of the nervous system, and the pain in your hands and wrists can be relieved by your chiropractor with concentrated spinal and joint adjustments.
Maintenance Care
We have discussed many conditions that can be relieved through chiropractic. The best way to treat these conditions is to prevent them before they start. Regular chiropractic visits can help to prevent physical problems and injuries from occurring. Other potential benefits of regular chiropractic visits are increased flexibility and mobility, a higher level of energy, improved posture, a more effective immune system, better circulation, and better well-being.
Fibromyalgia
Fibromyalgia, a condition with an unknown cause, manifests as chronic pain primarily in the joints, often accompanied by various symptoms such as trouble sleeping, headaches, depression, and anxiety. While there's no cure, chiropractic treatment can offer relief and help identify potential sources of pain, whether physical, mental, or emotional. A thorough examination guides adjustments and chiropractic massage to alleviate pain. Chiropractic care's additional benefits, including increased energy, improved circulation, and a strengthened immune system, contribute to fighting the effects of fibromyalgia. WELLNESS TIPS
These simple movements or daily routines can hurt you if you're not careful. Make sure to do these simple activities the right way as outlined below:
STANDING
Posture. Posture. Posture. Make sure that you keep your chin up and don't slouch. If you know that you will be standing for an extended period, make sure you wear comfortable shoes.
LIFTING
Lifting objects is one of the most common ways to injure yourself. Even if it is a light object, twisting or pulling in the wrong direction when you're not stretched out can damage muscles and the spine. You always want to bend at the knees and avoid lifting anything you know is too heavy.
resting or sleeping
Straining your neck or back while you're sleeping is a widespread occurrence. We often fall asleep in strange positions where we are not supported properly, or our necks are at an odd angle. Ensure you are in a supportive place if you are going to nap or watch TV in bed.
wORKING AT A DESK
Make sure that you are getting up every 20 minutes to stretch. The type of chair you have is essential. It should fit you correctly so that your back touches the chair and your feet are on the floor with knees at a 90-degree angle. Try to avoid looking down at your computer screen. It should be at eye level.
Overall Physical Activity
If you know that you will be working or playing for a while, ensure you are adequately stretched out and warmed up. Even if it's something light, like gardening or just pushing your child on a bike, it's easy to pull something if you need to warm up.
SITTING
Use a supportive chair and sit with your back against it, feet flat on the floor, and legs uncrossed. If you sit for long periods, stand and stretch every 20 minutes.
TALKING ON THE PHONE
If you're forced to use the phone for an extended period, a speaker or headset must be used. By all means, try to avoid cradling the phone between your neck and shoulder, as this could cause you to damage the muscles or vertebrae in that area.
